Summer Trend Report

Summer is now in full force! It's a hot one out there. The girls here at Velvet Hair Studio have some trends to keep in mind for the summer months. Here are their recommendations.

Hair Artist: Alexis Fokas (@_fokasonme)

First up is our lovely Alexis. Her colors are top notch, banging out blondes left and right.

She recommends face framing highlights because it brightens up the face and makes you look lighter overall. It is also a girl on the go's perfect way to refresh a color in between a full head of highlights. Especially if you are getting that long overdue vacation this summer.

For the cut, Alexis is pairing her face framing highlights with a nice, soft, angle around the face. Pair it with some soft curls, and you are good to go for the summer.

Hair Artist: Annie McFetridge (@anniemacstyle)

When it comes to curly hair and "wash and go", our stylist, Annie, knows just what to do! This summer is all about the bangs. Not just curly hair, but for all hair types. In this particular look, Annie paired them with an amazing, round, graduated and layered shape to show off her models beautiful face. The framing angles paired with the curtain bang open up the haircut so well.

Annie would love to help you with your wash and go hairstyle this summer. Blowdryers beware!

Hair Artist: Jennifer Sanchez (@jennichez_)

Jen is another one of our awesome, all around, stylists. She has some great insight for summer trends. As far as color goes, lived in, vanilla blonde will be key because having a slightly warmer tone to your blonde will show off and reflect beautifully while giving you a youthful look. Also a more soft, rooted look will grow out gracefully, with no worries about rushing back to the salon, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the summer with no harsh grow outs.

For the cut, shoulder length is the perfect length. Keep layers to a minimum, just enough to give movement to the ends. Just like the color, we want to keep it simple and lived in.

Hair Artist: Alicia Mclaughlin (@thehairstylish)

Lish, our owner, is playing off what Alexis suggested but taking it even further with the contrast. The money piece is not going anywhere soon and contrast is at a peak right now in the trends. It's also a great 'in between' service to get more time with your color in between full highlight appointments. Embrace your roots everywhere else, while still looking current with a nice face framing highlight.

Wether it's soft like Alexis' or high contrast like Lish's, it's the way to go this summer season. Lish guarantees it will even lead in to 2022.

Hair Artist: Emily McDevitt (@elixiremily)

Last but not least we have Emily. She specializes on lived-in blondes and balayages. This beautiful style is the perfect look for a summer with very little maintenance.

She created a natural sun-kissed foilayage with slices and weaves around the face to brighten her up. As previously mentioned, bold bright pieces around the face are going to be in for a while... For a more dimensional look, Emily painted some of the ends to lighten them and add brightness.

For the styling, Emily decided to go with a very soft beachy wave where sun-kissed pieces are the star of the show.
